So I’ve talked alot about updating your indoor and outdoor spaces, but lets talk about the one thing that ties everything together: the area rug!
When I’m designing a room the rug is one of the last selections I make because it allows me to evaluate all the colors, pattersn, and textures going on, and then use the area rug as the final element to bring the whole room together. Area Rugs are often an underused item in large wall to wall carpet areas, but yes you can place an area rug on top of carpet. It brings on a visual stability and grounding of the room. So my advice is always use an area rug in your space no matter what your floor material is.

Determine the purpose: Decide if you need an area rug for comfort, style, or to define a space.
Measure your space: Measure the area you want to cover and choose a rug that fits the dimensions.
Consider the color scheme: Choose a rug that complements or contrasts with the colors in your room.
Think about texture: Decide if you want a plush, shaggy, or flat weave rug based on the texture you prefer.

Decide on a pattern: Choose a rug with a pattern that adds interest to your space or a solid color rug that complements your decor.
